Terms of Use
Version 2026-05-01 · Last update: May 2026
Article 1 — Acceptance
Signing up and using the release.wtf Service (hereinafter "the Service") implies full and complete acceptance of these Terms of Use ("Terms"). If you do not accept these terms, do not use the Service.
These Terms apply to all users, whether or not they have subscribed to a paid plan. For paid plans, see also the Terms of Sale.
Article 2 — Sign-up
Sign-up is open to anyone with a valid email address. The user agrees to provide accurate information when creating their account.
Authentication is done via a magic link sent by email. The user is responsible for the confidentiality of their email address and the contents of their inbox.
Article 3 — Service description
release.wtf provides:
- creation of event pages (drops, product releases, launches);
- generation of calendar files (.ics, Google Calendar, Outlook);
- creation of shareable calendars (webcal://);
- embed widget for integration on third-party sites;
- view, download, and impression statistics.
The Service is accessible 24/7 subject to maintenance operations or cases of force majeure.
Article 4 — Pay-to-publish model
release.wtf operates on a "pay-to-publish" model: account creation and event creation are free, but public publishing of events (access to the public URL, embed widget, calendar add by visitors) requires a paid plan (1-year Pass or Lifetime, see CGV).
As long as no plan is active, external visitors see a "coming soon" page instead of the event.
Article 5 — User commitments
The user agrees to:
- Use the Service in line with its purpose and applicable law.
- Not impersonate a third party, not use a brand or logo for which they do not hold the rights.
- Not publish illegal, defamatory, racist, pornographic, violent content or content that harms human dignity, public order or the rights of others.
- Not use the Service for phishing, spam, or deceptive redirection.
- Not attempt to compromise the security of the Service (intrusion, exploitation of vulnerabilities, denial of service).
- Respect reasonable usage limits. Any clearly abusive use (mass account creation, mass spam, intensive scraping) may lead to immediate suspension without notice.
Article 6 — Ownership of submitted content
The user retains all rights to the content they submit (event titles, descriptions, images, URLs, brand names). They grant release.wtf a non-exclusive, free license limited to running the Service, for the duration the content is online, on the servers needed to provide the Service.
This license ends when the user removes the content from their account or when their account is deleted.
Article 7 — Suspension and termination
release.wtf reserves the right to suspend or terminate an account in case of:
- serious breach of these Terms;
- clearly illegal content reported via the procedure provided by the LCEN (French law for confidence in the digital economy);
- failure to pay or abusive payment dispute (chargeback);
- use for fraudulent purposes or that infringes the rights of third parties.
Except in emergencies (clearly illegal content), the Seller will endeavor to notify the user of the reason and give them the opportunity to remedy the situation before final suspension.
The user may at any time request the permanent deletion of their account from the My account page (GDPR article 17).
Article 8 — Availability and maintenance
release.wtf is provided "as is". The Seller commits to providing the Service with diligence under a best-effort obligation. Exact performance (uptime, speed, completeness) is not subject to any guarantee of results.
Maintenance operations may cause occasional unavailability, preferably scheduled during off-peak hours.
Article 9 — Limitation of liability
release.wtf cannot be held liable for:
- content submitted by users (publisher liability rests with the relevant users only);
- indirect damages (loss of revenue, damage to reputation);
- unavailability due to force majeure or third-party providers (hosting, payment, email);
- data loss caused by the user themselves (accidental deletion, erroneous modification).
The Seller's liability is limited, for users on a paid plan, to the amount actually paid during the twelve (12) months preceding the event giving rise to the damage. For users without an active plan, no monetary compensation may be claimed.
Article 10 — Reporting illegal content
In accordance with article 6 of the LCEN, any third party may report clearly illegal content to hey@release.wtf. The report must include:
- the date of the report;
- the identity of the reporter (last name, first name, email);
- a description of the disputed content and its precise location (URL);
- the legal grounds for which the content should be removed;
- a copy of the formal notice sent to the author of the content (except in emergencies).
release.wtf undertakes to review reports as soon as possible and to remove clearly illegal content.
Article 11 — Personal data
The processing of personal data is governed by our Privacy Policy, GDPR-compliant.
Article 12 — Changes to the Terms
release.wtf reserves the right to amend these Terms. Major changes will be notified to users by email with reasonable notice. Continued use of the Service after notification constitutes acceptance of the amended Terms.
Article 13 — Governing law
These Terms are governed by French law. Any dispute falls under the jurisdiction of the courts of Orléans, except for mandatory legal provisions to the contrary.
